How to Erase your Phone Number and Address on Google Search. Remove Your Personal Info from Google in 5 Minutes
Did you know that anyone in the world can likely find your phone number and address with a quick google search?!
It’s creepy… but it’s true. We all know that not much of our info is private these days. From your phone number and address to schools and medical records. People can even see the front of your house on Google Maps (see how to blur it out here).
Thankfully, Google has given us a fairly easy way to erase personal information from Google search results.
While the solution isn't perfect, privacy is a rarity these days, so I take every opportunity available to protect my personal information.
One of the easiest ways to protect your privacy? Cover up those computer and phone cameras with sliding covers!
How to Erase your personal info from Google Search Results.
Step 1: Find the personal information that you want erased on Google Search and take a screen shot!
Try searching something like "*Your Full Name* Address" or "*Your Full Name* Phone Number" and screen shot any results that come up with accurate info. Make sure you are screenshooting the results on Google's Search page, not the website's page.
Be sure to copy the URL of that Google Search Results page too!
You can find what type of personal info qualifies here and below. You can do this with everything from bank account numbers, images of your signature, ID numbers, login credentials and more.
Step 2: Start the removal request
Click on this link and click the blue box reading "Start Removal Request"
Step 3: Fill out the removal request form
Next, just simply answer the questions as below. Be sure to include the screenshot and URL of the search results.
That's it! They will send your a confirmation email once it's erased. You've got a little more privacy than you did yesterday!
Also be aware that this isn't removing the info from the actual website, only the search results, which will make it much harder for people to find - but the info still exists online.
